Topdong Head House is the eldest son's family of the Topdong Branch of the Goseong Yi Clan, and it is said that the site for the Historic House is originally the place where Beopheungsa Temple, the temple of the united Silla period, was.
Actually, Seven-story Brick Pagoda at Beopheungsa Temple Site designated as National Treasure No. 16 is standing high through the test of time next to the Historic House.
The house was built in the mid-Joseon period, has had elements of Sadaebu(the scholar-gentry class) house after ever since, blending well architectures, a pond, flower beds, and the garden with their natural surroundings : the dense forest of the ridge of Yeongnamsan Mountain like trees with branching arms and a mountain stream that runs the west, and so on. Also, it is an outstanding research material of traditional house which has kept a distinctive design and a traditional style very well.
